The atmosphere was soothing, welcoming, with wine pouring and lite bites being served. It was definitely like a girls day out.
I got to meet up with some of my old blog buddies, as well as meet new influencers here in Atlanta.
The ladies of MARLON chatted with attendees about the importance of women supporting each other, work/ life balance and the ladies talked how their real lives mirror the lives of the characters they play on the show. The brunch was hosted by The Cut Life’s, Tahira Joy and Influencer Mattie James.
Notable attendees included:
AJ Johnson/Celebrity trainer
Terri J. Vaughn/Greenleaf, The Steve Harvey Show
Shamea Morton/Real Housewives of Atlanta
Jasmine Burke/Saints & Sinners
I loved every bit of the event! Essence Atkins you can tell is a down to earth, genuine person, who loves her girl tribe, thankful for their support during her time of need. She is a single mother, and motherhood and career is quite hard balancing the two, she shared that finding true sisterhood of friends, no matter what industry you're in is critical.
I have been a fan of Essence Atkins since her time on Smart Guy and Half and Half, it's like I grew up watching her. Even her roles on TV I can tell she is a sweet person in real life, which made me become a fan of hers.
And can we talk about how amazing she looks at 46! No makeup, no botox, no magic pill to look that great. Just good ol' water drinking, facials, cutting out sodas, limiting caffeine, gluten-free diet, and exercise. And no, she not even a vegan either. She did mention to ask your doctor for an allergen test to see if your allergic to certain foods. Food allergies can also be a factor of weight gain.
And Bresha Webb, girl, she is like my best friend in my head! Her spunky, sassy, outgoing personality will have you laughing until you're in tears! She reminds me of Tiffany Haddish, and Cardi B, all mix in one. Also, in-person, I can tell she is genuine too, just loving life unapologetically.
I only have seen MARLON show a couple of times, and both episodes were hilarious. It's like typical, goofy Marlon like you seen him on the shows and movies.
I thought MARLON show was a spinoff from The Wayne's Brother, showing him older with a family now. But I was wrong.
Loosely inspired by the real life of star Marlon Wayans ("In Living Color," "Scary Movie"), this update to the classic family comedy centers on a loving (but immature) father committed to co-parenting his two kids with his very-together ex-wife. While his misguided fatherly advice, unstoppable larger-than-life personality and unpredictable Internet superstardom might get in the way sometimes, for Marlon, family really always does come first - even if he's the biggest kid of all.
If you're into Wayne's Brothers, you'll love this show! Make sure to tune in for Season 2 premiere June 14th on NBC at 9 pm.
