What is Churrasco Experience?

Fogo de Chao is a restaurant where meat is cooked in churrasco style, which translates roughly from the Portuguese word for "barbecue." Churrascaria cuisine is typically served rodízio style, where roving waiters serve the barbecued meats from large skewers directly onto the seated diners' plates.

It's been about three years since we last visited Fogo de Chao at the Atlanta, Buckhead location.  And last week we dined at their Dunwoody location that opened three years ago.

Fogo de Chao is introducing to their guests their autumnal season with new menu items featuring the traditional harvest vegetables from Brazil.

With the fall season here, Fogo has introduced new menu items using fresh seasonal ingredients, such as Butternut Kale Pear & Endive Salads, as well as a Butternut & Sweet Potato Soup. All of these delicious new items are available as part of the Full Churrasco Experience and pair perfectly with all the fire-roasted meats carved tableside by Fogo's incredible gaucho chefs, including the new New York Strip.

Fogo's fall menu selections include:

  • New York Strip: A premium steak lightly seasoned with rock salt and fire-roasted on the churrasco grill.

  • Butternut Kale Salad: Roasted butternut squash, fresh kale, chickpeas and feta tossed with honey citrus vinaigrette, and topped with pumpkin and sunflower seeds.

  • Butternut & Sweet Potato Soup: Roasted butternut squash blended with sweet potatoes and winter spices.

  • Pear & Endive Salad: Juicy seasonal pears, red and gold endive, blue cheese, candied bacon, lightly mixed with pear vinaigrette.

  • Roasted Sweet Potatoes: Oven-roasted and miso-glazed sweet potatoes with freshly chopped parsley.

When you step inside the Dunwoody location, instantly, I noticed a more intimate, airy atmosphere.  Previous Fogo de Chaos restaurants the ambiance is more of a dark setting to give a romantic tone, but I like the light shining through to provide a better visual look of the inside.

The decor is now more contemporary and up-to-date with today's modern style that guests will appreciate.

Mr. M and I dined during lunchtime having the Full Churrasco Experience that includes Market Table and Feijoada Bar.  When the gaucho chefs came around with different savory cuts of meats (steak, chicken, pork, lamb) on a  large skewer, we both stared with delight as our mouth watered.

Garlic Steak
The specialty garlic steak was a massive hit for Mr. M and me.  The steak was so tender, juicy, and well seasoned.  Another favorite for me was our Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail appetizer and washing it down drinking the Pineapple Old Fashioned cocktail.  Now, that cocktail has a kick that warms the soul with the dark rum and aromatic bitters.  Want to feel warm and cozy?  Skip those pumpkin spice lattes and sip on a Pineapple Old Fashioned.

Fogo de Chao may be known for its hearty Brazilian meats, but they do offer lighter options like seafood, salads, soups, and fruits.  When guests dine at Fogo de Chao, they enjoy sampling an array of flavor combinations to make the meal their own.

Come hungry when visiting Fogo de Chao, your taste buds and stomach will be fulfilled.  My lunch had me so full, I didn't need to eat another meal for the rest of the day.  So you definitely get your money worth of delicious food.

Fogo de Chao is the perfect spot for dates, families, brunch, and dining with friends.

Although Fogo de Chao is a bit upscale, there is no dress code to dine there; however, the guests are dressed mainly business casual.
