From Nashville where Dolly Parton got her first break in the music business and returning to Pigeon Forge where the Queen of Country Music herself grew up, it's like we followed Dolly's pathway to success this summer.

Last weekend, the girls and I did a Girl's Weekend Getaway to the Smoky Mountains for Dollywood's Media Family Day!  I appreciate the good people of Dollywood for continually inviting my family for a day of fun and creating beautiful memories together.

Every time we visit there is always something new to see.  During this visit, we got to see Paint Jam, an exciting and entertaining "speed painting" performance by Ricardo Barazza who I met early this year and got to see the electrifying iLuminate's performance which was on America's Got Talent.   Michelle is a huge America's Got Talent fan, so seeing iLuminate live made her day at Dollywood complete.

Honestly, I can't get enough of Dollywood!  If I could go every week, I would.  They have some of the best rides, excellent foods, the best concerts, and outstanding customer service.  You don't get all of that at most theme parks.

And another thing, I think Dollywood is better than Disney.  Yeah, that's right, better!  It's not so overwhelming, much more affordable, Christian influences, and like I said before people that work at Dollywood love their job and it shows.

But don't get me wrong, I love me some Disney and have created the best memories there as a child, and when my girls were younger, it's just that my girls have outgrown it so to speak.

With Dollywood, they have something for everyone, young or old.  From thrill rides to concerts, award-winning restaurants, museums, carnival rides and arcade games, shopping, plus a whole lot more!  Never a dull moment at Dollywood.

There is a huge announcement coming at the end of the week about Dollywood's Land coming in 2019!  I was invited to return to hear about the big news, but unfortunately, I'm unable to attend since we're getting ready for back to school over here.  But Dollywood will be keeping me in the loop, and I'll share about the announcement here on the blog.

I get this question a lot and want to clarify some things.  I discussed this on my Instagram and would like to share about it here too.

Is Dollywood just for white people?

No, it's for everyone, no matter your race or religion; people are welcomed with open arms.  People from all over the world visit Dollywood, different nationalities even work at the park.

People have this perception that the Smoky Mountains, in general, is only for whites and that is far from the truth.

If people keep having that mindset that particular places are only for certain people, they're going to miss out on a lot of things in life.  Don't let the media deceive you; their jobs are to place fear in people, that's how they get paid.  You can go where ever you want; this is a free country.

Yes, you got to be cautious, but that's with where ever you go, honestly.  There are bad apples in the bunch with every race, but don't limit yourself to only doing things that make you comfortable, staying inside a bubble; you never know what a person or a place that may change your life.  With me being a Christian, I put my trust in God to be my protector over my family and me, so I live my life to the fullest knowing we're protected.   What happens, happens.  I can't change things in life.  But I won't be hiding either.

The people of the Smoky Mountains are one of the friendliest people I have ever met!  They're always smiling, happy, and want to make sure their guest have a good time, returning again and again!  I feel safe there even being alone with my girls without Mr. M.  I now have done it twice.  I wouldn't visit the Smoky Mountains several times a year if I were racially profiled.

So, please don't feel you can't visit certain places!  Go out and see the world!

  1. I would love to go to Dollywood one day. It looks like a lot of fun. I understand about Disney. It can be overwhelming especially if you a certain times. The last time we went it was during Star Wats week and Hollywood Studios was way too crowded.

    1. Yes girl, you and your family need to take a visit to Dollywood! Yeah, that's why my family don't want to visit Disney like we use too. Dollywood has its days when it's crowded, usually when Dolly is in town. But the crowds to me at Dollywood is not that bad, much more tolerable.

  2. I've driven through that area, and adore Dolly Parton. Also a serious fan of amusement parks. Glad you had fun! Hugs...RO
