Dress from Charming Charlie

Hey Yall!  How was your weekend?  Feeling like your sleep been robbed due to the clocks leaping forward?  Well, at least you have extra sunshine now!

I spent my weekend doing house chores, binge watching House Hunters on HGTV, and of course getting my naps in.  I just wasn't in the mood to go anywhere and be spending money.  With it being tax season I'm trying to save as much as I can.

This past Friday, I was telling my accountant that in 2016 a lot of my money had been going out. With the purchase of my house, forgetting to pay my estimated quarterly taxes instead I was paying just my corporate taxes so I was hit with a massive tax bill, all those trips I was taking every month.  The money was flying quickly out of my wallet.  So, spending more time at home is helping me build back my nest egg.

I did manage to do a little something, something on Thursday.  I received an exclusive invitation to preview Berta's evening wear at Atlanta’s finest luxury boutique of couture bridal and special occasion gowns, Elite Pour La Vie.

To be honest y'all, I wasn't interested in attending this event because I never attend functions that require me to wear fancy ballroom-like attire.  Also, I can't even remember when is the last time I have participated in a wedding, so this event just isn't right for me.

But, they sent me three invites in the course of two weeks, so I guess they really wanted me there, so I decided to RSVP.  Only on one condition though if I could bring my girls along.  The event coordinators happily accepted.

Walking into Elite Pour La Vie is like walking into a boutique on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, I can just hear cash registers ringing in my head.  The place looked expensive as heck, and it is too!

I was told the new 2017 Fall/Winter collection handmade by Berta from Israel has a starting price of $7,000 upwards to $10,000.  The first thought that went through my mind was, "Wow, the only time I spent money like that was on my down payment of my house!"

20-Piece Fall/Winter 2017 Collection

Curiosity got the best of me; I had to know what would make a dress so expensive.

From what I was told, Berta's evening wear is made from luxurious fabrics like silk, laces, chiffon, velvet, satin, etc.  Plus, all dresses are handmade, you can't just get it off the rack, gowns are tailored to create the perfect fit.

And another thing, these beautiful, elegant dresses are so exclusive, they can only be found in high-end places like New York, Beverly Hills, Miami, and other International locations.

Models were walking around with Berta's evening wear collection, and let's just say little is left to the imagination.  I need to hit the gym hard and lay off the pizza and burgers to be wearing these dresses!  My body is not snatched for any of the 20-piece collection!

I asked the models how they felt wearing these sexy, stunning designs by Berta and they said dresses were lightweight and comfortable, with no itchiness.

I had to convert my eyes because the model's girls (and I ain't talking about my daughters) were popping out trying to say hello.  That was just way too much skin showing!  Let me walk in the room with one of those sexy dresses on, and I can just see Mr. M undressing me with his eyes.   He has never seen me in any evening wear, ever!  I think the only semi-dressy outfit I've worn is a cocktail dress, is that considered fancy?

Welp, it felt fabulous to feel expensive for the night while hanging with some of the elite journalists from top bridal publications.  Here is little ol' me hanging with the big dawgs, sipping on our sparkling limeades, eating hors d'oeuvre and talking all things fashion.

It's spring bridal season, Berta has wedding dresses as well if you're planning to get hitched soon.  Or if you're looking for an evening gown and the price tag doesn't matter to you, I highly recommend making an appointment at Elite Pour La Vie, they'll make sure your special day will be magical, and you'll be looking like royalty.

What is the most you would spend on an evening gown?

  2. Beautiful dresses and an awesome showroom. We haven't done fancy in a few years but the last Omega Psi Phi event we attended I actually found a beautiful purple ball gown at a consignment shop for $25!

  4. Those dresses are nice. However, the most I have brought myself to spend on a dress was in the hundreds range for a ball. Thousands is a little bit to rich for my blood.
