I was provided this deep conditioner as an advertorial, all opinions are my own.

Oh summer, how burning up hot you have been!  Stepping outside has been like stepping into a small room with a plug-in heater on full blast during 101-degree heat!  Ugh!  So disrespectful!

And my hair, not loving this hot weather either, it's like my tight define curls beginnings to expand into a frizzy, kinky afro that is dry like tumbleweeds.  My hairstyle that usually last a few days only is lasting half the day.  That's why my headwraps have been my best go-to friend this season.

But for real, my hair is dying of thirst; it needs deep conditioning to bring it back to life, back to its lusciousness.

Back in 2014, I shared with y'all a haircare brand I was currently digging called Camille Rose Naturals.  I would use their Almond Jai Twisting Butter for my twist outs after my hair was washed and conditioned, and my hair would come out great, no frizz, volume, and softness.  Plus, I love the smell of the product, smells like it was made from cake batter.  Just imagine having the sweet smell of cupcakes coming from your hair.  Hehe!   I use this product when I don't want to use gel.

Now, fast forward to now.  I found out that Camille Rose Naturals has a deep conditioner called Algae Renew.  With the summer heat, this Algae conditioner helps stop hair from thinning, breaking and shedding on contact.  The intense super-rich conditioning treatment infused with blue-green algae consist of 65 vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and biotin.

Ingredients: Deionized water, aloe vera juice, butyrospermum parkii(shea)butter, cocos nucifera (coconut oil), behentrimonium methosulfate (BTMS) cetyl alcohol, theobroma cacao (cocoa)butter, mangifera indica(mango)seed butter, cannabis sativa(hemp) seed oil, di panthenol, mel(manuka)honey, vegetable glycerin, camellia sinensis )green tea) extract, simmondsia chinensia(jojoba) seed oil, rosa canina(rose hip) fruit oil, bitis vinifera(grape)seed oil, oenothera biennis(evening primrose) oil, phenoxyethanol and capryly glycol(optiphen), blue green algae, dimethyl sulfone (msm), biotin, tocopheryl acetate(vitamin E), mentha piperita (peppermint)oil, scent and LOVE.

Sounds like a delightful product that my hair would enjoy, so I got the deep conditioner to try it out.

I did what I normally do, shampoo and condition my hair first.  After that, I added the Camille Rose Naturals Algae Renew Deep Conditioner in my hair from root to tip and let it sit in my hair for about 20 minutes under a shower cap. Directions say to sit under a hooded dryer, steamer, or heat cap, but I like to walk around instead of sitting in one place.   But I could've used this heated cap, but I forgot I had it. During my deep conditioning session, I'm usually doing some work around the house while letting the time pass.

I washed out the deep conditioner revealing hydrated hair that looked and felt moisturized with incredible shine.  And I forgot to mention, the smell of the conditioner.  It smells like a fresh batch of mint chip ice cream, yum!  It makes you want to dip your hand in the thick minty green pudding and take a taste.

Too bad I didn't have any more of the twisting butter on hand, I bet both butter and conditioner makes the perfect combination.

How is your hair holding up this summer?

  1. I haven't really tried much of this brand, but I've heard good things. It's way out of my budget. I'm always looking for a good deep conditioner and the Eden jojoba monoi line works well. This summer, I've been wearing wash and go styles. I'm too lazy to do anything else for now.

  2. Your hair looks good! I'd try it but the algae in this throws me a bit.

  3. I love products that have a great smell. That's a huge part of the appeal for me. I wish I could smell it in person!
