With my family and I spending more time in our personal sanctuary retreat, we've been sprucing around the house, giving our spaces a new intimate look.

Starting with our bedrooms, my girls and I have been getting rid of the old stuff and adding fresh decor to give our space a new, modernized look.

With Michelle's room, she had to make space for her baby guinea pigs, so she downsized her bedroom to include their large cage. She is still working on her room theme that I believe she wants it to be a pink color scheme.

Lauren's bedroom at first looked like a bunch of random stuff thrown together, you know, how college student's first apartment looks with mismatch things everywhere. Lauren didn't care about the design of her room when we moved into our home until recently since she is spending more time due to the current circumstances (COVID-19). She got rid of a lot of clutter, giving her room more of a whimsical, purple theme. She is currently still working on her space too.

As for me, I started downsizing, getting rid of my clutter as well.

While cleaning up my room, I noticed that it's been a while since I've last updated my bedding. I've been using the same bedspread for a few years now, and it's time for a change.

I'm big on nautical beach themes, so I wanted my bedspread to be similar to those colors. Plus, my current comforter is a dark brown, and with my home already having dark wood tones, I want my room to appear brighter and airier. It helps to brighten up my mood.

Not only is the look of the comforter gives my room a soft ambiance shade, myself being wrapped inside the blanket gives me the warm, snuggly feels, putting me in a deep, restful sleep.

For an added touch, I included one of my favorite decorative pillows, saying, "Don't Quit Your Daydream," a quote that I live by. That's what I love about Linden Street home decor line, it goes well with the interior decor that I already have.

Bedroom Styling Tips

Considering most people spend about a third of our lives sleeping, invest in creating a sanctuary that’s relaxing, restful and cozy.

Avoid harsh lighting. Opt for softer yellow lighting. Dimmable bulbs are a great option.

Add window treatments that give you the options to block light or let light shine in.

Clear the bedroom of anything related to daily stresses like work.

Incorporate bedding with natural fibers to achieve a softer feel with every wash.

Choose a soothing color palette. Simply mix neutrals and pastels.

Pile on layers of plush bedding to add texture and maximize comfort.
