Celebrate Black History Month Fashion and Beauty at JCPenney 2023

Did you hear the newsJCPenney is honoring Black History Month through a curated collection of fashion items for women, men, and juniors.

This collection of tees is bold, colorful, showing the beauty of black excellence.  I'm thankful for JCPenney coming together with black creators to create these proud statement t-shirts that people can wear not only during Black History Month but also throughout the year as well.

JCPenney is celebrating Black History Month with Hope & Wonder™, a private label brand of apparel for everyone in the family with gifts, accessories, and home products designed to commemorate moments that matter.

This month, JCPenney celebrates three years of Hope & Wonder™, its purpose-driven private label brand of apparel, gifts, accessories and home products for everyone in the family to celebrate moments that matter.

Net profits of the 2024 Hope & Wonder Black History Month Collection benefit Black Girls Smile, a nonprofit organization that empowers the mental health of Black women and girls through education, resources and support. JCPenney began its partnership with Black Girls Smile in 2022 and is proud to support the organization for the third year in a row.

Founded in 2012 by Lauren Carson, Black Girls Smile programs are grounded in research, focus-group findings, and personal experiences affirming the particular needs of young Black women. Through normalization and dialogue surrounding mental wellness, Black Girls Smile envisions a society where all individuals, including young African American females, are provided education, support and resources necessary to lead mentally healthy lives.

"Black Girls Smile is extremely excited to partner with JCPenney for the second year to celebrate Black History Month,” said Lauren Carson, Black Girls Smile (BGS) founder and executive director. “Our continued collaborative partnership helps BGS to expand our programming and initiatives focused on uplifting and empowering the mental health and well-being of Black women and girls. We truly appreciate the continued support and encouragement from JCPenney's team and community through the commitment to honoring and celebrating Black history and Black wellness."

Hope & Wonder’s Black History Month collection was created and curated in-house by JCPenney’s Creative Coalition, a team of BIPOC designers whose inspiration brought the collection to life. Several JCPenney associates and their families are also featured as models in the collection, which can be found in stores and online.

“JCPenney continues to pull inspiration from not only our customers’ wants and needs, but from our dedicated associates and their families,” said Andre Joyner, JCPenney’s chief human resources officer. “We believe in honoring Black History Month and other cultural moments that resonate deeply with our associates and are commited to making a positive impact within the lives of diverse American families.”

After a successful inaugural year of Hope & Wonder, JCPenney is proud to expand the featured observances to include two more cultural moments– Women’s History Month in March and Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May.

JCPenney retails a variety of black-owned brands, too, from hair care products, and beauty brands.

Make sure to check out Design Essentials, a natural and textured haircare brand that provides premium treatments and styling products for over 30 years.

Another black-owned haircare brand that JCPenney retails is Urban Hydration that creates naturally inspired products that achieve beautiful results and are gentle enough for the entire family.  (Make sure to check out my review of Urban Hydration)

And these Black-Owned Beauty brands at JCPenney will have you singing all the praises!

    1. I love this too! I don't know why people would be mad about this when they've been crying about not being represented by big brands. Now, these brands are, and they're still mad! I'm sick of all the whining and complaining that has been going on in our community lately.
