Georgia Renaissance Festival Revisited 2018

The girls and I took a journey back to the Renaissance Period in the 16th Century English Village filled with fun, food, music, comedy, with 10 stages of continuous shows and Noble Knights battling on Horseback in the Royal Jousting Tournament at the Georgia Renaissance Festival.

We went last year, remember that?  This time I felt we had a better experience because the weather was milder and comfortable, so we stayed longer and got to absorb everything the festival had to offer.

Time Travel Back in Time

We walked every inch of the 32-acre village to see what we had missed last year.  But our focus was to make sure to eat some of the delicious food offerings again and see all the animals that were there.  We're huge animal lovers and always visiting different animal exhibits and habitats often.

When you first step foot at the Renaissance Festival, you're immediately transported to 16th-century England; you're no longer in Georgia anymore.  Characters walking around are dead-on like the villagers back in time, which makes you get a chuckle just seeing all the funny antics that they do.  They play their parts well!  Also, you'll see cosplayers walking around joining in on the fun too.

There are 150 artisan craft shops to choose from, so there is something for everyone to suit their fancy.

Georgia Renaissance Festival is for Everyone

Before attending last year, I thought that only people who visit the Renaissance Festival were people who are nerdy, weird, white and like to do odd things.  But you know what?  If I kept being narrow-minded, I would be missing out on a lot of stuff in life, going to the Renaissance Festival is quite entertaining and never a dull moment.  It's such a memorable experience!

I like the fact that the festival is welcoming to everyone, no matter your skin color, religion, or sex.  And I'm glad to see more people of color attending the festival this year, stepping outside the box.  You come as you are or who you like to be during that time in history with no one passing judgment on you.  Everyone there come together as one having an out of this world time together.  So refreshing to see since it seems like all you see is racial division nowadays.

Tips You Need to Know

However, I will say this; the Renaissance Festival is quite pricey.  Everything, except for parking and shows cost (the shows do ask for tips).  And bring cash, because a lot of the vendors don't accept debit/credit cards.  However, if you're running low on money, there are ATMs inside the festival.  To help save some money, I suggest buying your tickets on Groupon or discounted package tickets on their website.  Have a game plan before going, so you don't go broke from overspending.  Bring a set amount of cash and once that money is gone, zip that wallet shut!

Another tip.  The grounds are like walking in dirt so don't wear your favorite shoes you don't want to get dirty.  I like to wear my old sandals, although my feet get covered in dust, it's easy for me to clean my feet and shoes when I get home.  And make sure you do wear comfortable shoes because there is a lot of walking and some hills inside the festival.
