The beloved family tradition, Madeline’s Christmas returns to Horizon Theatre, December 3 – 31! A festive treat for parents and children alike, families are invited to join Madeline and friends for a magical musical adaption of Ludwig Bemelmans’ classic children’s tale! Featuring 24 local girls performing alongside professional actors in collaboration with The Atlanta Children’s Theatre Company, this merry production is a holiday classic for all.
The girls and I headed to see the show tonight and enjoyed every minute of it! The performance brought so much joy to my heart and gave me a jolly warmth feeling all over.
These young girls are very talented and had me grinning from ear to ear throughout the whole performance. What was wonderful to see is the leading girl playing Madeline was African American. It made my girls feel good to see a girl that looks like them playing the leading role.
And guess what? This was the first play I attended with my girls, a perfect start to going to see acting performances.
Before the show started, we got to watch dress rehearsal and Lauren sat down and spoke with one of the girls who was in the play named Zoey. Zoey asked Lauren was I a blogger and Lauren proudly said yes! (That's my girl!) Zoey smiled, then asked if Lauren ever watched Madeline on tv before. Lauren softly told her she hasn't seen the show, but have read the books.
I've seen Madeline cartoon shows when I was younger, however, forgot much of the storyline of her, so this play was a refresher for me to remember about her life with her classmates in Paris.
The singing was delightful; the acting was superb, such a beautiful job by everyone!
The show had the girls and I wanting more! When we got home, the girls quickly hopped on YouTube trying to find old Madeline episodes.
If you're in the Atlanta area this holiday season makes sure to see Madeline's Christmas; you'll sure have a merry good time!
Disclosure: The girls and I were invited to see the preview performance, all opinions are our own.
