All Of the Lights: Chinese Lantern Festival

Hey Yall!  Christmas has come and gone, now my family and I are ready to give 2016 the deuces!  Goodbye 2016, it's been real!  2017, we're welcoming you with open arms, we know you got cool things in store for us!

Right now it's winter break for the girls, and they've been driving me crazy with, "I'm bored!" "I have nothing to do!" "Is it time to go on our road trip yet?"

So I was thinking, "What can the family and I get into to keep these girls occupied?"

While laying comfortably snuggled up in my snuggie watching who knows what, probably some ol' Christmas movie or the girls' tv programs, the Chinese Lantern Festival commercial came on.  The girls looked at me and said, "Hey mom, let's go there, that sounds like a lot of fun!"

I agreed.

I kid you not what happened next.

I was scrolling through my emails on my phone, and Centennial Park PR contacted me wanting to send my family and I tickets to the Chinese Lantern Festival that's there at their park.  They found my 10 Ways to Celebrate New Year’s in Atlanta post and gave thanks to me mentioning their Ice Rink and Holiday in Lights.

How ironic is that!  Just goes to show, you just never know who may be reading my blog.  I appreciate them doing that for us.

Yesterday evening, I gathered up the girls and Mr. M and took a short trip to Downtown Atlanta to see all the beautiful Chinese Lantern displays.

The Park is illuminated with 25 decorative lanterns, handcrafted giant flowers, a three-story pagoda, and a 200-foot-long Chinese dragon. All creations are constructed by artisans from China to make the Park come alive each night!   Also, there are two Chinese performances to enjoy.

This festival was right up Lauren's alley; she is a huge fan of the Chinese culture!  We all got to learn new Chinese words, what all the decorative lanterns meant in their culture, and check out amazing handcrafted merchandise that we couldn't resist; we just had to buy some.

The festival sure was a crowd pleaser, so many people were there admiring all the beautiful displays; it's like you're actually walking into a festival in China.
