Lip Color: MAC Lustering

Hey Yall!  You know how much I love playing in makeup.  I'm no makeup guru, but I enjoy learning and using the latest beauty products.

Lately, I haven't been wearing as much makeup, and that's because it's summer and I don't want my face melting off, plus I'm digging a more natural look.

I told y'all last year that I gave up on MAC's Cosmetics foundations due to it breaking my skin out and being too heavy on my face, however, I didn't stop using their other products like their eyebrow pencil and lipsticks.

Speaking of lipsticks, did you know I haven't paid a single dime for any lipsticks I have from MAC?  Yep, true!  And it's all thanks to their recycling program.  When you save six empty containers from MAC and return them to a MAC Cosmetic store, you can choose one certain lipstick for free.

So, I've been stocking up my empty MAC containers for over a year now and got to choose four new lipsticks.  So here's the math:

6 empty containers = 1 free lipstick

I received four free lipsticks, so that means I turned in 24 empty makeup bottles.  Wow, that's a lot of makeup products I used, but it was mainly empty eyebrow pencils.

I don't wear lipstick all the time since my lips are naturally colored, but when I do wear lipstick the colors I choose are more of a natural red or pink tones.  I'm not all about the drama on my lips with colors like blue, purple, and yellows.  I guess you can call me Plain Jane.

Check out the lippies I picked out.  I did swatches for you.  Do you think I did a good job choosing the colors?

I will say this about MAC lipsticks; they have some of the most beautiful, vibrant, pigmented shades of colors.  Perfect for everyone's taste levels.  Some colors give the lips a shiny effect, and some of MAC's lipsticks are matte for all day lasting power.

I prefer the lipsticks that are not matte because matte has my lips dry, cracking, and peeling.  So not a good look.  The lipsticks that are creamy textured doesn't last all day, but the way it has my lips poppin' like lip gloss I don't mind reapplying.

Remember National Lipstick Day is July 29th!  Make sure to show off your cutest lippies!

Do you base your lipstick colors on whatever season it is?

  5. I didn't realize they had a program like that. What a great idea! I usually buy drugstore make up but I may have to start saving my pennies to try out Mac. Love that!
