Wow, oh wow, y'all!  Did you see ya girl doing media coverage on the black carpet for Atlanta Robbin' Season on Monday night?

Honestly, I was quite surprised to be invited to such event, since my blog is more family-focus.  However, with my daughters getting older, growing out of all that mommy blogger stuff, and I'm outgrowing them too, our interests are changing for a more grown-up venues. (Hey, don't get us wrong, there are still events catered to the youngins' we'll always enjoy)

I watched Atlanta season one back in 2016, and goodness, that show is like the realest, blackest, dopest show ever!  This show had me vigorously waiting to watch new episodes when it came on each week.  And when the season ended, and I found out it would be over a year before season two, I was so disappointed.  I thought with such a long wait; the show may be forgotten.

The drama-comedy series follows Earn Marks (Donald Glover) during his daily life in Atlanta, Georgia, as he tries to redeem himself in the eyes of his ex-girlfriend (the mother of his daughter), his parents, and his cousin Alfred, who raps under the stage name "Paper Boi." Having dropped out of Princeton University, Earn has no money and no home, and so he alternates between staying with his parents and his girlfriend. Once he realizes that his cousin is on the verge of stardom, he desperately seeks to reconnect to improve his life and the life of his daughter, Lottie.

Donald Glover (Earn Marks), was raised here in Atlanta (Stone Mountain, Georgia).  He is an actor, writer, director, comedian, and producer, as well as a singer, songwriter, and rapper under the stage name Childish Gambino, and as a disc jockey, he performs under the name mcDJ.

Not only is Donald Glover the star of the show, but he's also even the director and creator!  This man is pure genius!  His hard work for Atlanta has earned him Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, and Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy.

Just seeing all of his success just shows that people of color can make a way and be successful in whatever their passions are.  Still, we have a long way to go to be better represented, being equal to other people of non-color.  But the ways things are turning out right now in 2018; the future is indeed looking bright.

Since this series is more for the grown folks, the girls stayed home with Mr. M, while I had a bit of an escape night with my blog sister NaturalBabydol.

The black carpet event was hosted at Starlight Drive-In (I never knew a drive-in is still an existence), shut down for invited media and guest only to meet the stars, view the screening of the first episode of season 2, then VIP party afterward.

Working the black carpet was a bit overwhelming for the first time, but it was fun getting up close and personal with the stars. It was like an adrenaline rush being in the middle of all the non-stop action.

Check out some of the photos I snapped from the black carpet and video clips.

  1. Hi Lou!!! You Go Girl! How fun! You are having a ball. I am not familiar with this show. You did a great job capturing all the cool moments on the carpet. I'll have to look out for this one on FX. I love covering the carpets. Very surreal to be up close and personal with the celebs! I have to remind myself they are regular people too!
