Two Cons, One Weekend: Southern-Fried Gaming Expo and Atlanta Comic-Con Recap

Two Cons, One Weekend: Southern-Fried Gaming Expo and Atlanta Comic Con Recap

Wow, what a weekend!  Did you get to see what my girls and I did?

For the first time, we managed to do two Cons, which is a first for us.  And to think about it, we started our summer break at a convention, MomoCon, and ending our summer break at two of them.

Now, that is a record!  How I was able to hang through it all, I don't know.  However, it was all worth it because the girls and I had a blast!  You know, I'm all about creating memories with my young ladies because before I know it they'll be adults.  I'm getting all the time in with them as I can.

Southern-Fried Gaming Expo

Two Cons, One Weekend: Southern-Fried Gaming Expo and Atlanta Comic Con Recap

The first one this past Friday was Southern-Fried Gaming Expo held at both Renaissance Waverly and the adjoining Cobb Galleria Centre.  It is the largest arcade expo in Georgia with family-friendly arcade games, console games, pinball machines, board games, vendors and exhibitors, plus much more!  It's like a blast from the past!

I heard about this convention from an ad that popped up on my Facebook feed, that's how I find out about all the Cons we attend.

I wasn't expecting much from Southern-Fried Gaming Expo, but to my surprise, it was quite fun.  Actually, better than Atlanta Comic Con we went to the following day!

We went on Friday, so it wasn't flooded with people, it made our time at the convention a relaxing one.  No long lines to play the games, so quickly the girls and I played many different gaming systems.

The highlight of our time there were the pinball machines, and playing old school Pacman.  Who knew still this day playing those are fun!

Going to Southern-Fried Gaming Expo makes you put your worries aside, coming together as a community for a friendly weekend of fun events and games.  This Con is definitely on our list to return next year!

Atlanta Comic-Con

Two Cons, One Weekend: Southern-Fried Gaming Expo and Atlanta Comic Con Recap

We went to Atlanta Comic-Con last year, remember that

I was going on 3-4 hours of sleep, exhausted from the night before since we were playing video games through the night at Southern-Friend Gaming Expo.  Thank goodness for my coffee smoothie that helped wake me up a bit to endure the overwhelmingness of Atlanta Comic-Con.

I felt last year's Comic-Con was better because it had more voice actors that the girls and I wanted to meet.  This year's celebrity guest were uninteresting to us or we didn't know who they were.

The crowds were massive at Comic-Con, making it a bit overwhelming at times.  Lauren was upset to see not many anime vendors in the vendor's hall.  I had to remind her that we're at a comic convention, this is not MomoCon or Anime Weekend.

The highlight of Comic-Con for me was seeing my favorite funk band, Raspberry Pie again.  Many of you may not know this, but I love me some 70's music.  I've been told that I have an old soul always having my music in my car on the Groove station.  Maybe I was born in the wrong era, who knows, but the music back then is way better than the junk that plays on the radio now.  70's music gets you off your feet, making you move and groove to the funky beat.  I always wanted to do a big 70's party, maybe someday I will.

Again, the girls and I played more video and arcade games, a lot more than I like since I'm not into playing these games.

Both Southern-Fried Gaming Expo and Atlanta Comic-Con was going on, on Sunday for their last day, but I told the girls that we are going to chill at home because momma needs her rest!  I slept the day away uninterrupted.  It took me two days to recover Sunday-Monday.

The girls return to school the 2nd week of August, so our plans for the rest of their break is back to school shopping, also we may get into some stuff locally.

Have you been to any conventions this summer?
