When you’re active like I am it can be hard to stay healthy in a natural way when you’re always on the go. The girls are in two different schools this year, I’m trying to get back into my gym routine, and they each have events that go on after school. Plus, on the weekends I want to make sure they’re staying active and not just in the house playing on their phones or watching tv.


I know I’m not the only mom who has an overly busy schedule so today I’m sharing my five simple, natural ways to stay healthy on the go.



Get an Adequate Amount of Rest

As adults, we’re always stressing to our children that they need to get an adequate amount of sleep. Granted this could be because we need some alone time, but the same rule applied to us as well.
Trust me, I know that it’s not possible to get 8 hours of sleep, or anywhere close to it, each night, but when you can make time to get a couple of more hours of rest do so.

One of the main keys of being healthy is to ensure that you are giving your body the rest it needs. We’re not energizer bunnies and we have to sleep. If you don’t, as you get older your late nights and all-nighters will start to catch up with you.



Keep Up Good Hand Hygiene

Always being on the go means that we’re interacting with and touching a ton of stuff. I wouldn’t call myself a germaphobe but I am constantly washing my hands and using hand sanitizer.


This is another essential key to staying healthy because germs make you sick and you never know what germs you are interacting with when you are out.



Lower the Amount of Sugar You Ingest

Too much sugar can cause all sorts of health problems as I’m sure you already know. However, I understand that when you’re out it is much easier to pick up some candy or another sugar treat from a vending machine or convenience store than it is to try to find a healthy alternative.


To lower the amount of sugar that you ingest try purchasing granola bars and yogurt when doing your grocery shopping. You could even make some fresh fruit parfaits in advance. Therefore, on your way out of the door all you must do is grab and go. When hunger hits you have a healthy treat ready and save yourself a couple of bucks from not having to purchase junk.


Tip: If you find yourself craving sweets or wanting to eat a lot throughout the day make a habit of always having some water with you. Sometimes when we feel like we want to eat we’re thirsty and there is no better beverage choice than water.


Don’t like the taste of water? Remember that fresh fruit I mentioned earlier…make your own fruit infused water.



Make Exercise a Daily Habit

When many think of exercise they automatically think of having to sign up for an expensive gym membership. This isn’t the case at all. Exercise could be as simple as walking when running errands instead of driving from place to place or taking the stairs instead of hopping on the elevator.


Again, by doing more walking, or even cycling, you are not only contributing to your health but you’re saving coins as well since you won’t be using as much gas.



Take Vitamins

Finally, consider taking vitamins if you don’t have time to eat as healthy as you should. There is an assortment of different vitamins on the market ranging from vitamins you can drink to even gummy adult vitamins for those who don’t like swallowing pills.


It may take some trial and error for you to find out what sort of vitamins work best for you, but in the end, you will be glad that you took the time and made the investment in your health.


Besides, we want our kids to take vitamins to stay healthy, right? So what could be a better motivator for them than by seeing us practice what we preach?


One Last Thing on Natural Ways to Stay Healthy on the Go

I know staying healthy on the go isn’t the easiest thing in the world. However, with a few lifestyle changes and some dedication you can make it happen. By doing so you will find that you have more energy, start feeling better overall, and you may even drop some of the unwanted pounds in the process.
