Hey Yall!  How was your weekend?  Did you do anything fun and exciting?


For those of you who don't know, I'm on a self-care journey this year that I made part of my 2016 goals to achieve.  I can't give my all if I'm not taking care of myself, like my health.


When I was working at a public relations/public affairs firm for eight years, I wasn't taking good care of myself at all.  My job assignment was working at my desk from 9-6 Monday through Friday.  While working, I would eat unhealthy snacks and junk foods for lunch.  What didn't help was the temptations of bags of mixed candies my boss would have free for the employees.  I would rummage through those sweets every work day hands full of candy I would eat. 


I was packing on the pounds quickly since I wasn't moving very much throughout the day, just for bathroom breaks, and going to lunch to pick up fast foods.


I told myself when I left my job; I'm joining a gym to lose about 30 to 40lbs, start eating better, and take more time for myself.


So far, I've been doing well.  People have been noticing my weight loss, and wondering what I've been doing to shed the pounds.

I spend three times a week at the gym for about 2 hours during those days.  I make sure to limit the sweets I eat, drink water and most importantly eat breakfast each day; breakfast was something I use to skip out all the time because I was rushing to get to work.  Breakfast is the fuel you need to get you going for the day.  When I don't eat breakfast, I overeat during lunch.  Also, when I eat now, I eat in smaller portions.


So far in my journey, I've lost 20lbs!  YEA ME! 


Today, I wanted to share with you the stations on Pandora I listen to on my phone when I'm working up a sweat at the gym.  Don't judge me, because some of the music genres are ratchet as hell.  But, that kind of music gets me pumping and my adrenaline running.  I listen to them more for the beat instead of the lyrics; it reminds me of my teenage years dancing in the clubs.   Yes, I was a clubber during my heyday!  LOL!

  1. Congratulations Lou on your weight loss. That's an awesome achievement. Finding time to exercise is so hard when you work at full day. I keep saying I gotta do better. As for Pandora, I love listening to to great music. I'm usually tuned in to a good jazz station or contemporary Gospel.Great when doing house chores!

  3. Congrats on your weight loss Lou. I haven't listened to Pandora in years, though. Since I became a Amazon Prime member they are my go to music stations for music now. I like working out to fast music or reggae as it gets me pumped up.

  4. Congratulations lady! I don't exercise even though I know that I need too, however, I am not a sweet eater just a beer drinker - lol. I have a Pandora account which I very rarely listen to, however, hubby has his on his iPhone and listens to great tunes during his workouts and while riding the lawn mower but they are 60's and 70's music - the classics.
