Getting Ready for Memorial Day Weekend: See What I Got!

Hey Yall!  And just like that, school has come to an end!  I officially have a 4th grader and 5th grader!  I just can't believe it; my girls will be soon done with elementary school.  Noooo!  I'm not ready (In my Kevin Hart voice)!  I want them to stay young forever; I've been enjoying this stage of their life.  I haven't dealt with the teen meltdowns yet, and hanging out with me is still considered cool to them.  Why can't I just keep it this way?

Speaking of cool, my girls wanted to have their dear ol' mom to participate at their school for the end of the school year Field Day last week.

At first, I told them no because I was too busy catching up with work here on the blog, but I remember one of the reasons why I quit my outside job is to participate more in school functions.  I've missed so many all these years, and the girls always would fuss at me telling me how much my job would hold me back.  They were right.

I had so much fun spending quality time with my girls at their school, meeting their friends, getting to know their teachers better.  I even helped with Field Day activities along with the PTA staff.

Michelle had her Field Day on a Tuesday, Lauren's was on Wednesday, so I had to stop by the school and stay awhile for two days.  Yes, I did get behind on work, but the memories I created with my daughters is priceless, something I wouldn't have created being at home blogging.

Also, it helped me tune out social media, and play like I was a kid again.  Love it!  This brings back memories of my childhood playing on the playground with my friends without a worry in the world.

Also, last week when I had a little time to myself, I did a little shopping to jump start my summer.

Remember I told you about my landlord, and the lies about him selling the house we're in, but instead tricked us into paying higher rent?

Well, during that fiasco, I started purging my closet, and when I say purge, I mean some serious purging!  I got rid of a lot of my clothes because I thought we were going to be moving soon and didn't want to pack a bunch of clothes I do not want or need.  I donated three garbage bags full of clothes, which left my closet with not as many outfits for me to wear, especially for the warm summer months.

Memorial Day is coming up, the kick start of summer vacations.  So you know what that mean?  Our family will be back on the road again!  I need something to wear.

I took a stroll at the mall to check out some deals.  First stop, you should know this, New York and Company.  I felt their deals were just okay.  They had their NY Deals going on, but I couldn't add on my coupon with the deal to maximize my savings.   So because of this, I didn't get as much.  Once they have coupon deals like buying $200, get $100 off, on top of whatever sale they're having, I'm on it.  I get so much with that deal.

Check out what I purchased below (sorry picture quality is not the greatest, I should've used my micro lens).  My style has been very laid back lately since leaving my job.  I don't attend fancy shindigs, when I attend events it's casual attire, I'm home most of the time, plus I'm running the streets with my girls.  I have to be comfortable, but still look comfortably chic.

My powder foundation was running low, so I went to bareMinerals to replenish.

Now, my powder foundation is $30; bareMinerals was having a deal, buy three particular beauty products for $60.  Also, it comes with a makeup pouch.

I love when they have deals like this, I can stock up and not have to worry about makeup for awhile.  I chose two of my powder foundation and a finishing press powder.

The beauty consultant shared with me some of their latest facial cleansing products.  She asked me what my skin type is; I told her combination, but summer months I'm oily.  She said her oil-based cleansing products would work perfectly for me.

Now hold up, if I have oily skin, wouldn't using an oil-based product make my face look extra greasy?

She assured me that although I use products that don't have oil in it, it makes my skin produce more oil to keep from being dry.  With an oil-based product, it'll help balance out my natural oil so my skin won't be oily, but more of a natural, healthy glow.

Hmm...sounds like she has a point.  She rubbed the oil products on my hand, and I was amazed at the results.  My skin looked so fresh and dewy.  She gave me samples to use at home.  That'll be my deciding factor if I'll be returning to buy more.

Now I'm packing our bags, getting ready for our Memorial Day Weekend Getaway.  Can you guess where we're headed?  I'll give you some hints, not Florida, however, we visited this location twice, and I have blogged about it both times.   You can search my travel posts to help find the answer.

  4. I love all three of the outfits Lou. However, my favorite is the white one. I hope you and the girls have fun this weekend. The boys and I are headed to a theme park tomorrow to kickstart some fun, even though summer vacation doesn't start here for a couple of more weeks lol.

I cleaned out my younger three boy's closets and we donated 20 bags to a local charity. I cannot believe what they out grew in a year!
