Summer Vacation Ideas

Summer is going to be here before we all know it. Therefore, now is the time to start thinking about what to do over the summer break when the kids are out of school. Today, I am sharing some summer vacation ideas that I am sure you will love.

Camping

Going on a family camping trip can be a ton of fun and it is a budget friendly summer vacation idea. Usually, campsites are available in each state and you do not have to always stick to the traditional pitching a tent camping experience. Some campgrounds have cabins available and in specific states, you can find treehouses available for your stay. Camping is always cheaper than staying at a hotel and it allows your kids to explore the outdoors. During the evening hours you can roast marshmallows, interact with the other families, and most importantly be disconnected from the tech world that we have a love/hate relationship with.

Visit Relatives

We all have relatives who live far away and we do not make it to see them during the school year. This is another budget friendly summer vacation idea because you get to stay at their homes and you can eat meals at home instead of having to dine out. The best part is since your room and board are free, you can have extra money to take advantage of getting out an exploring the city’s attractions together as a family.

Water Park Resorts

Resorts are a great summer vacation idea for families because you not only have your lodging covered but you gain admission to the water parks too. Great Wolf Lodge and Wilderness at the Smokies are a couple of major water park resorts, so I would recommend checking to see if there is one in your desired destination first. Your family is sure to have a blast for the few days that you stay at the resort. Both children and adults can have fun at water parks and since summer is known for humid and hot days, you can stay cool while relaxing in the pool!

These are just three of the summer vacation ideas that you can consider this summer. However, there are plenty of other options such as going on a road trip, traveling to a different country, or just exploring some of the attractions in your local area that you never got around to visiting. When planning your summer vacation always keep your budget in mind and brainstorm together as a family so everyone can be guaranteed to have a great time.

What will you be doing for summer vacation this year?

  3. I was just talking with my friend about this the other day. Summer programs are so expensive, it's like you have to choose one or the other. Vacation or summer-long activity.

  6. I want to try camping. Unfortunately I'm the only one in the family onboard with that idea!! I'm thinking about doing a faux camping trip and setting up outside in the backyard for an evening of fun!

  8. Great ideas! I loved camping as a kid, and want to share the experience with my boys. Unfortunately, my husband doesn't share my dream of getting an RV, lol. Have you heard of glamping? It sure beats the cabins I grew up with!
