Year in Review 2014

I must say that this year blogging was so awesome for me!  Once I got serious with it the opportunities were endless.  I got to experience things unimaginable, meet a lot of great people, and do a lot of fabulous things.

At the end of 2013, I told myself that I'm going to take my blogging more seriously and take it to the next level and look where it has gotten me, featured in Dr. Oz's debut magazine, started my own business with my blog, being quoted along with other mom entrepreneurs, getting invited to exclusive events, becoming a travel blogger, and so much more!

I wanted my blog to be more than just product reviews; I wanted it to be a place that people can learn about beauty, skincare, travel, foods, basically a lifestyle blog.  I was debating on changing my blog name but people are starting to know me more of a blogger that reviews has influence power because I'm always honest with no fluff.  Since I started seeing a lot of people Googling my blog name Product Review Mom I decided to keep my blog name since it is already established.

I started to notice the growth of my blog in late spring once I started attending events, blogging 5 days a week, and putting myself out there.  I was afraid to be personal because I wasn't for sure how people would take me but I got out of my comfort zone and showed the world who I was and introduced my daughters as well which people has grown to love them.

I want to thank Mr. M and my daughters for believing in my passions and kept cheering me on.  They've seen all the blood, sweat, and tears I've gone through behind the scenes and always believed in me and now they're seeing all the work of my labor paying off.

I wanted to share with you all my top favorite blog posts I did in 2014:

  • The Biggest Loser Fun Run Race AtlantaRecap- This was the first event I was ever invited to as a blogger.  My girls and I had so much fun running our very first race.  If the race comes back to Atlanta we would love to attend again.

  • Different Ways to Make Money from Blogging- This post was a request from one of my blogging buddies about how can she make money from her blog.  There are so many ways to make money blogging, not just doing sponsored posts and Google AdSense ads.  My income from this blog as well as my other blog is 98% through affiliate marketing programs.

  • My Epic Family Road Trip Vacation- I did a lot of traveling this year and my favorite road trip was traveling to Memphis TN, San Antonio TX, Luling TX, Houston TX, all in 8 days!  We were on the road more than settled down somewhere but it was really a great experience and I got to see and do a lot of fun things.  This road trip is what gave me the travel bug and started me to become a travel blogger.

  • Interview with Miguel Dakota fromAmerica's Got Talent- This was my first ever interview on my blog.  I haven't done interviews before because I was always afraid to do them but Miguel made it very comfortable for me and I look forward to doing more interviews in the future.

  • Lauren's Birthday and Road Trip toSavannah- I wanted to do something special for Lauren's birthday but didn't want to travel too far so Savannah was the perfect choice.  Lauren's birthday will go down in history books as a birthday she'll never forget.  Staying in an over $400 a night hotel that we got to stay for free, hitting the beach, standing in a 2 hour line for the best soul food in town- what a great time!

  • FabKids October Holiday Look Book Review- My girls have been having a fabulous time modeling clothes on my blog.  The girls became FabKid's ambassadors and every month they get to choose what outfits to wear and show off.

I could go on and on about what were my favorite posts from the year but these are my top favorites.

In 2015, I want to continue working hard and living out my dreams!  I want to travel more and blog about it, learn about up and coming products and showcase them here, hope to land a huge sponsored deal, tap into video if my schedule allows it, open up my blog to guest bloggers, and write an eBook.

Thank you all for following along with me in 2014 and I hope you stick around in 2015!

What were your top favorite moments in 2014?

    1. That is so sweet Diatta! I love sharing my knowledge of what worked for me and what have not. Blogging is not a get rich quick scheme and like any business you have to work hard to be successful at it. There will be moments that you will fail at something but you learn from it, dust yourself off and keep going. When you have a passion and dream, go for it! No holding back!

As a blogger and wedding and event planner with two young girls I'm in awe of all your accomplishments, especially in the last year! I've had a blog for 4 years but just started paying attention to my stats in last 9 months. You're an inspiration and hope to be as successful as you some day! Wishing you a happy and healthy 2015!
