How many of you will be traveling with small children this season? Traveling with children is never the same as traveling with family. They have special needs, and they become cranky even with least discomfort. So, here are top 10 items that you should not forget while traveling with kids:

Top 10 Items Needed When Traveling with Small Children (Summer Blog Series) via ProductReviewMom.com

1.                  Baby bottle and dish liquid: It is obvious, but many moms forget to pack their baby’s sippy cups, milk bottles, snack cups and utensils. In addition to that, do not miss a dish liquid too. Even if you have all the utensils for your baby, you need to clean them after every use too. Hand soaps do not get the job done properly.

2.                  Waterproof bib: Children love trying out new foods at restaurants in the new destination. You obviously have limited clothes at your vacation, and you cannot change his top 4 times in a day. So, take a waterproof bib along, so that you can wipe clean it after use, instead of washing clothes at the hotel.

3.                  Child carrier: Stroller is difficult to be carried around. Instead, take a child carrier, which will make your trip much easier. In case you want to go for a walk around the resort, carry your child in a child carrier, and get your hands free.

4.                  Child proofing kit: Hotel rooms are generally not safe for children. If your child is an explorer, he may get clumsy and end up pinching his finger in the cabinet door. There are childproofing kits that can help in making the place safe for the child.

5.                  Plenty of snacks: Bring along some favorite snacks of your child. Children usually create tantrums during long hours of journey, and snacking can keep them busy and occupied. They at least have something that they really like.

6.                  Baby hat and sunscreen lotion: Protect his face, neck and ears with a nice sun hat. Bring a chemical-free sunscreen lotion too. You may love tan, but your child will not.

7.                  Toys: Bring some pool and beach toys along. Give him an inflatable beach ball or a sand bucket, and he will stay occupied and entertained for some time.

8.                  Small utensils: Most hotels offer lots of grains, nuts, fruits and vegetables which you can carry around. But if you are traveling with child, you may need some small utensils to serve him the snacks.

9.                  Favorite blanket or soft toy: Some children have a habit of sleeping with a particular soft toy, or covering himself with his favorite blanket. Carry it along, and your child will feel at home in the night. Otherwise, he may wake up in the night, and keep you disturbed all through the day.

10.                  Swim diapers: You need more than one swim diapers, so that they can dry up in between, and you can clean them if messed up. If one swim diaper gets spoiled, you can quickly change it and send your child back in water.

Traveling with kids needs planning, and if you have all these items in your travel bag, you can make the vacation comfortable for yourself as well as for the child.

  2. Even though most hotels had cribs would always insist on bringing our porta crib.. Much more comfy and clean and guaranteed to have just in case the hotel ran out.

  6. I have this bad habit of forgetting drinking cups for my children when we travel to a nearby town. We normally leave the house with a disposable one (like a juice box or something) and it leads me to forgetting one for later. Great list.

  7. Those are great tips for traveling with small children! But can I say.. WHEW! I'm glad to be out of that stage ;)
For us, the kids are between 9-11- having snacks and digital items such as video games, ipads, etc plus books is what is a must when traveling on the road w/ kids.

And Wet Wipes-- you never grow out of that one!
