Summer is the most
awaited time of the year, as it is the season which provides you best
opportunities to stay outdoors and do things that you love. But most of the
times, your skin is the one that has to pay the price. Sun causes serious
damage to your skin, which can ultimately lead to premature skin aging, marks,
wrinkles, skin dryness and even skin cancer. You need to take care of your skin
during the hottest of season, so that you can enjoy the freedom offered by summer
without destroying your skin.
Here are a few skincare tips for summer months:
- Hydrate yourself: Body loses lot of moisture during the summer months. So, it is significant to replenish your H2O levels on a regular basis. Drink lots of liquids and water to keep your skin soft and moisturized.
- Use sun protection: Try to stay indoors during the peak afternoon hours, which is usually from 11am to 3pm. Sun rays are strongest during these hours, and can seriously damage your skin. If you need to go outdoors, do not forget to apply a sunscreen before half an hour of stepping out.
- Use toner: Use a toner to keep your skin cool and pores closed. Try rose water, or look for a branded toner suitable for your skin type. A good quality toner like the Neutrogena Alcohol-Free toner has refreshing toning without the harsh, drying effects of alcohol.
- Use a water-based moisturizer: Do not skip your skin moisturizing routine during summer, as it is very essential to keep your skin hydrated. If your regular moisturizer is too oily, use a water-based one.
- Clean your face at least twice everyday: Doing this is important, even if you stay indoors and you feel that your skin is clean. Do not forget to cleanse and moisturizer your skin before going to bed too.
- Exfoliate: Exfoliating is more important during summer to improve blood circulation and remove dead skin. Apply a facemask and moisturize your skin after exfoliating.
- Avoid aerated drinks: Majority of people grab ice cold aerated drinks to quench thirst during the summer. Remember that these drinks have huge amounts of sugar which is not good for your figure as well as for your skin. Instead, drink water, fruit juices, green mango drink, coconut water, fresh lime and other such drinks to remain hydrated.
A bonus tip is to exercise,
eat healthy, and sleep well. This will give you glowing skin and overall good
health all through the year. Enjoy summer!
