Memorial Day Weekend Recap and Summer Blog Series

Did you all have a great Memorial Day Weekend?  I did!  I caught up on some much needed sleep since I feel like my body is going 100 miles an hour non stop and I never give myself a break.

I feel my blog has really taken over my life and giving myself a break was really needed since I have several events I'm attending coming up this week.

Although I got some rest, I did manage to finally get my household in order.  I haven't had the time to tidy up my house and get the clothes folded since I'm always working, blogging, or on the go somewhere.

Saturday night, my daughters and I went to the Mall of Georgia to enjoy a free outdoor movie (Movies Under the Stars) that the mall does each Saturday night over the Summer time.  Before the movie plays, there is a band that entertains the crowd during the first part of the evening.  Here is the schedule of the Summer Concerts and Movies that will be playing:

Event Dates: 5/24/2014-7/27/2014

  • 5/24- Band: Line 6, Movie: Despicable Me 2

  • 6/14  Band: Coal Mountain Band, Movie: Man of Steel* PG-13
  • 6/21  Band: The Brent Gafford Band, Movie: Iron Man 3* PG-13
  • 6/28  Band: Joe Hall Band, Movie: Mr. Peabody & Sherman
  • Fabulous Fourth - Friday, July 4th
5:00 - 7:00: Brent Gafford Band
7:30 - 9:30: The Woody's
Movie: Hunger Games Catching Fire* PG-13
  • 7/12   Band: Hill Street Roots, Movie: Rio 2
  • 7/19   Band: The Woody's, Movie: The Great Gatsby* PG-13
  • 7/26   Band: Asphalt Cowboys, Movie: The Lego Movie

Each year the girls and I attend these Summer events since it's free and my girls has a great time on the bounce houses, eating snow cones and popcorn, and enjoy a good movie under the stars.

This year, I made sure to buy lawn chairs because never again will I sit on the grass because several times I was attacked by bugs and I could hardly see the movie screen.

Here are some photos below of us enjoying the entertainment.

Sunday and Monday were my days of continuing my relaxation. Mr. M wanted to invite family over, but I wasn't up to having people over.  I spent my time catching up on my reality shows that I had recorded on DVR because I was at 98 percent full, and the DVR was deleting old shows I had recorded to make room for new shows.

So my Memorial Day Weekend was pretty good, and I'm happy to get time to rest and enjoy my family.

I wanted to let you all know what I've been working on for the past several weeks!  Starting tomorrow, each Wednesday for the next 8 weeks I'll be having a Summer blog series all about Summer Traveling.

Each year, my family and I does road trips to attend my families annual reunions and this year we will be road tripping to Memphis, TN and San Antonio, TX.  I thought that having a Summer blog series would be appropriate leading up to our vacation.

Make sure to follow me on Instagram to see what cool things we'll be doing on our trip.  I'll do a recap here on the blog once I get back.

Any recommendations on places to go or do in Memphis and San Antonio?  Please let me know!

  5. I love free events, especially outdoors. I remember buying lawn chairs for a movie in the park when we lived in Naples FL. It was so amazing, and people could bring their dogs, so we would pet them. I agree with you that you must take a break for restoration and relaxation. If mama ain't happy... you know the drill.

  8. I'm so glad you guys had a relaxing Memorial Day weekend! (That movie under the stars sounds positively DIVINE, and the perfect activity to share with your girls. I can't wait for Scotty to sit still for a movie. :-/

Our weekend was fun, yes, but it was a bit a work, too: The four of us (as well as my mom) spent the entire day on our deck, and Scotty was in his glory -- playing with his sand table, water table, and in his pool and eating ice cream until his heart's content -- so we were all dog tired last evening, and, subsequently, dragging this morning when it was time to take Scotty (and Kennedy) to their Play & Learn class. But, alas, it was SO worth it!

    Ah, the memories...

It's been a while -- college, to be exact -- since I went to San Antonio, but I'd say The Alamo is definitely worth a visit. I enjoyed going there...

    1. Courtney I seen a lot of toddlers in the crowd, including newborns, so I think Scotty would be really fascinated by the huge screen showing a Disney Movie.

Sounds like you guys had a great weekend! Mr. M wanted to bring his family over but I told him I was just not in the mood since I haven't had a decent night sleep in weeks since I'm always on the go. 4th of July will be a different story since we will be lounging around with my family in Memphis, in the woods somewhere.

I didn't know that San Antonio had The Alamo, I always thought it was in Arizona or New Mexico. Now I do want to visit the River Walk that San Antonio has because I heard it is really pretty there with the river going through the town.

      Thanks for the tip girl!

  9. Stop, you didn't know SA had the Alamo? I am chuckling ;-) Of course as a 'tourist' you have to visit the RW. bring bug spray.. it will be hot and the water attract mosquitoes. Please try and eat outside of the RW. Also make sure to tour outside of SA.. .like Gruene, Helotes, Bandera, etc... Depending on how long you will be in these areas, you may want to take a look at groupon.com for discounts and food places to eat at.

    1. Yep I did not know about The Alamo being in San Antonio. ( Bow head in shame ) Thanks for the tip about the bug spray Aimee because mosquitoes and bugs loves to attack me during the Summer for some reason.

I'll look into those other places outside of San Antonio. I may get an hotel outside of SA anyway to try to save some money.

And you know what ( Bow head in shame again ) I have never used Groupon before and always meaning to. Gosh, I'm terrible!

  10. Of course the infamous Beale Street in Memphis, Mudd Island if it's still opened, and there are a few family activities on the harbor in Memphis. It's not a nice city IMO. Have fun with your family at the reunions.. the adults may want to slip away to the casinos in Mississippi.

  11. Hey Reginia! I've been to Beale Street many times but never heard of Mudd Island, I'll need to ask my dad about that since he lives in Memphis.

Last year while in Memphis, Mr. M and I slipped away from my family and went to the casinos in Mississippi and won money just to lose it all back. LOL! But we had a great time!
