All I've been doing is cleaning, cooking, breaking up my daughter's fights, watching movies, and sleeping and then the cycle repeats. This is getting old fast! I will say that I'm fortunate to be at home with power because a lot of people has lost their power due to falling trees and ice freezing electrical wires. So I really can't complain but this cabin fever is killing me!
Last night I decided to get back into juicing. I fell off the bandwagon because I've been so busy doing other things that juicing always passes my mind. Plus it's expensive to keep doing too.
How I got started juicing is after watching the John Cross's documentary "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" which opened my eyes at the stuff I ate everyday. My boyfriend went out the next day after watching the movie and bought a juicer and we both did the 3 Day Weekend Juice Cleanse to clean out the bad foods in our bodies and boy did our energy levels went through the roof! I just wish stores would make produce more affordable instead of unhealthy foods.

I like to add a plastic bag in juicer's storage bin so I can throw away the pulp with less mess to clean |
When it comes to juicing, I don't really follow any recipes, I just add what ever I want. Here is what I used last night in my juice:
- 2 Whole Apples
- 1 Whole Cucumber
- 3 Mandarins
- 3 Kale Leaves
- 1 Ginger Root
The juice came out really good and had a sweet apple/mandarin taste to it. You do not taste the kale at all. The ginger does give the juice a bit of a spicy kick to it but I wanted that because I've been having nasal congestion and ginger can help clear it up naturally.
I heard with the left over pulp people use it in their baking goods, have you done this before?
I hate for all that pulp to just go to waste.
Welp looks like I'll go back to my hibernation. Stay warm everyone!

I just got a juicer - and am loving it. I overdosed on beets the first time around - maybe I'll try your "recipe"!
ReplyDeleteLOL...I had overdosed on beets the first time too!
DeleteI do smoothies but have never juiced. Though here in CA I have great access to produce all the time!
ReplyDeleteYou should try it out Megan, juicing is really good!
DeleteYou are a genius! I have been juicing for several years and never thought to put a plastic bag in the pulp been! I as well have never made anything out of the pulp but I always say I'm going to!
ReplyDeleteYeah I started hating cleaning out the bin and just decided to add grocery bags in it. Such a better way to clean up!
DeleteI agree! I wish stores would make produce healthier than the junk!
