Working on My Nightly Skincare Rountine with Aveda's Tulasara Wedding Collection

Hey Yall!  Aveda welcomed 2017 by introducing to me their Tulasara Wedding Collection at the beginning of Feburary.  This is something I need since my skin seems to be acting up lately; I guess from all the stress and overworking myself.

Along with this collection of both facial and eye masque, Aveda provided me a free facial coupon to redeem at their store.

Now, y'all know I'm all about learning and using the latest skincare products to improve my skin, but did you know I have never had a facial before?  Isn't surprising?  Due to me not liking showing off my bare skin to people and not wanting people putting their hands all over my face or body, I never made an appointment to get a spa treatment for my face, nor any parts of my body.  Well, my toes and nails don't count.  I got those done professionally many of times.

Aveda store is at my local mall, so I took the leap and made an appointment.

Day of my facial appointment, I walked in with no makeup showing all my discolored marks on my face and wore some loungewear clothes just in case the procedure got a bit messy.

The Aveda associate, Alicia, sat me down, served me some peppermint tea then ask what my skin concerns are and what type of skin do I have.

My concerns obviously are my discoloration due to acne, and I have combination skin. Dry first thing in the morning then while the day goes along I start to become oily.

Alicia advised that I need to have a nightly routine to help correct my dark spots and recommended the Tulasara collection that Aveda sent me in the mail.

Then, she laid me back in the chair, gave my face a cleaning, and added both Tulasara Wedding Overnight Masque and Eye Masque.  To give my skin a brightening fresh look in the morning when I wake up she applied Tulasara Bright that visibly reduces discoloration, even skin tone, and restore radiance.

My face felt renewed using these three products.

Alicia massaged my hands with Aveda's Hand Relief lotion, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable, by the way.  She knew I was tensed and she told me to relax myself, she won't hurt me.  Remember, I don't like people touching all over me, so her hands on me felt awkward, but I calmed down and let her work her magic.

After the facial and hand massage, Alicia asked if I would like her to do my makeup.  I told her sure since I have used some of Aveda's eye shadows and lippies, just not their foundations.

Alicia gave me a natural look with a bit of a smoky eye.  I took a look at myself in the mirror and noticed the coverage from the foundation was not all that good.  I can still see my dark spots.  But I will say that how Alicia did my eye shadow was nicely done.

Since I already was gifted the two Wedding Masques, I purchased the Bright serum since I needed that the most to help my skin problem.

But, I have a complaint y'all!

When I got a good look at myself in the rearview mirror of my car, my foundation didn't match my skin at all!  I looked pale and ashy.  Thank goodness when I walked out the store I didn't walk around the mall looking like Casper the Friendly Ghost!  Alicia did warn me that Aveda doesn't have many colors for African Americans, that's Aveda's downfall.  They either have really light tones or dark.  I'm more of an in-between.  Something they need to work on and they need to work on their lighting in the store.  (Sorry, I didn't get a picture of my face I was too embarrassed and rushed home to wash it off)

Bright is my favorite out the bunch!

Your skin renews itself at night to prepare for the following day, so it's essential to make sure to have a skincare routine at night to refresh and wake up to luminous skin.

I've been using these products nightly and been noticing a huge difference in my skin, much smoother, glowing, and reduction of my discoloration.  When I apply my makeup now, I'm using much less. Hopefully, my face gets to the point of no spots at all.  (Fingers Crossed) 🤞

  3. I used to do a nightly routine, but now since I am working nights I just do my routine after bed (aka my nap lol). I have always wanted to get a facial, but like you I would feel super awkward with having someone touching my face.
